Interest is not a puzzle
If you need a theory to work out whether she likes you, you’ve drifted too far from what she’s actually said.
There’s a whole industry teaching guys to ‘decode’ women: hair touches, reply times, tests, tactics. It’s flattering — it says the truth is hidden and you’re clever enough to crack it. Most of the time the truth is pretty ordinary, and ordinary sometimes includes ‘not that interested’.
Real interest meets you halfway. She asks you things back. She suggests a time, or says yes to yours without a pile of caveats. She remembers a detail. She can be shy and still be clear — shy isn’t the same as reluctant.
If you have to talk yourself into a maybe, it’s usually a no being polite.
Stop keeping a case file
Reply speed is a terrible witness. So is who paid, who texted last and whether she laughed at one joke. If you’re building a case, you’re not getting to know her — you’re arguing with your own nerves. Ask her straight, or believe the last clear thing she said.
And drop anything that only works if she doesn’t notice it. Negging, trying to make her jealous, going quiet on purpose — they’re all ways of dodging an honest conversation. Someone who likes you doesn’t need to be managed. Someone who doesn’t won’t be won over by tactics. Pickup might get you a night. Honesty gets you someone who wants to come back.
The idea here is so simple it’s almost disappointing: put her at ease, be real, ask, and let it connect — or not. Say what you want. Hear what she wants. If they don’t match, leave it nicely. That’s not settling. That’s the whole skill.
